Giraffes are found in dry, arid habitats. They live in savannas, grasslands and open woodlands that are rich with Acacia growth. Due to their ability to drink very little and survive, giraffes do not need to live near an open water source as long as they live in an area with foliage growth. Giraffes are known as the tallest mammals in the world and reach heights of over 16 feet. Their necks are the tallest portions of their bodies and are used by the males to fight with other males for mates.
